Many, and soon most, new desktop PCs and notebooks have no DB9 serial connector. This makes it tough to use the serial port on the Mini2440, and the serial port is the console I/O when Linux is launched. If you need a converter, put a note in the special instructions box during checkout or send an email. Just say "I need the FREE thing!" or something to that effect. We will get the message and you will get the perfect item to bring peace to your development life. I use it without the cable. Just stick it in the side of the laptop.
